Glendale council will discuss Project Baccara at workshop

For the first time in nearly four months, Glendale council members and staff will look at the potential annexation of the land for the controversial Project Baccara data center development in some depth.

Estimated at $36 billion, Project Baccara would be on 160 acres north of Olive Avenue, a half mile west of Litchfield Road, currently owned by Maricopa County and zoned for heavy industrial use. It would include two 1 million-square-foot data centers, a 700-megawatt natural gas power plant with 16 turbines and an APS substation.

The item will be on the council workshop agenda for the meeting beginning at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, in City Hall, 5850 W. Glendale Ave.
