Surprise honoring domestic violence awareness by going purple all month

Data shows that domestic violence impacts individuals from every race, gender and socioeconomic group. In the United States, one in three adults will be the victim of an act of domestic violence during their lifetime.

For Domestic Violence Awareness Month throughout October, the city of Surprise is honoring survivors while helping to raise awareness about this widespread issue.

Throughout the month, both Surprise City Hall and the city’s Public Safety Building is lit purple each evening in support of domestic violence awareness. The color purple symbolizes the national effort to support Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
