‘Pack the Cruiser’ food drive a success in Surprise

More than 30 people donated groceries for a “Pack the Cruiser” event to help support neighbors in need.

Residents participated in the Sept. 25 event at Fry’s, 16371 W. Cactus Road, where Surprise Police Department members collected donations for the St. Mary’s Food Bank.  Fry’s  shoppers helped fill a police cruiser with food donations to meet the need for emergency food in Surprise.

There is a 20-30% increase in families going to the Surprise facility for assistance as compared to this time last year.

More than 30 people donated groceries for a “Pack the Cruiser” event to help support neighbors in need.

Residents participated in the Sept. 25 event at Fry’s, 16371 W. Cactus Road, where Surprise Police Department members collected donations for the St. Mary’s Food Bank.  Fry’s  shoppers helped fill a police cruiser with food donations to meet the need for emergency food in Surprise.

There is a 20-30% increase in families going to the Surprise facility for assistance as compared to this time last year.

There is a continuous need for:

  • Peanut butter
  • Canned meat and fish
  • Canned vegetables
  • Cereal
  • Oatmeal
  • Fruit cups
  • Granola bars
  • Graham crackers
  • Pasta and canned sauces
