A presentation and discussion on possible hazards in the community blew up about the Rinchem chemical storage facility and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement warehouse, after a presentation to the Surprise City Council.
Following up to a June 16 request by Councilman Patrick Duffy, staff was asked to research and discuss the possibilities of a catastrophic event and what that would look like with a chemical storage facility within the city.
City council members heard a presentation during their Oct. 20 meeting at City Hall about the Rinchem property, dating back to 1999 when the site was annexed in to the city.
