For the 12th year, West Valley Preps has announced honors for the best boys basketball players it covers in the West Valley. Once again, we saw so many quality players that a third team was necessary. Here is the all-West Valley Preps boys basketball team:
First team
F — Michael Simcoe, senior, O’Connor
F — Kingston Tosi, senior, Millennium
W — Cameron Holmes, junior, Millennium
G — I’yar Shadowvine, senior, Ironwood
G — Denali McNeal, senior, Canyon View
Second team
W — Lamar Anderson, senior, Dysart
W — Stephan Miller, senior, Liberty
G — Sergio Gonzales, junior, Deer Valley
G — Quincy Kirk, senior, Canyon View
G — Maurice Carter, freshman, Willow Canyon
Third team
W — Ty Simpson, senior, Deer Valley
F — Josh Dillard, junior, Ironwood
G — Kaleel Kelly, senior, Willow Canyon
G — David Leszczynski, senior, Paradise Honors
G — TayVion Wilson, senior, O’Connor
Cameron Holmes, Millennium - All three finalists have a good argument. Holmes gets the nod for having the most dynamic overall game, as he made strides as a creator for the Tigers this season. He displayed a better sense of when to attack and when to use the extra defense attention to hit Millennium's shooters and get the ball moving for easy bickets/ Defensively, he often covered more dangerous guards and wings than in year's past and was his team's most dynamic shot blocker,
Runner-up: Michael Simcoe, O’Connor -
Second runner-up: Kingston Tosi, Millennium -
Coach of the year
Jed Dunn, Deer Valley - In one way, the Skyhawks third straight 4A finals appearance was almost expected. I should not have been taken for granted. Deer Valley lost seven seniors and three starters from its 2024 xhampions. Among them were the only platers taller than 6-3 in the regular rotation. Two new starters - juniors Elias Riley and Carter Guggenberger - barely played last season and the bench was entirely new. Yet the Sjyhawks played their best ball in the postseason, and pushed 4A powerhousr St. Mary's to overtime before falling just short of a repeat. The constant thread was Dunn's commitment to defense anf guard play.
Runner-up: Keegan Cook, Dysart -
Second runner-up: Jordan Augustine, Ironwood and Josh Cole, O’Connor (tie) -
