Verrado High School junior Mikhail Solomon was recognized by the Agua Fria Union High School District governing board Oct. 14 for a student-produced animated film, "Diamond Chase."
Solomon received regional student production awards for animation and special effects and for audio and sound.
Inspired by Wile E. Coyote cartoons, Solomon developed the script, recruited student voice actors and animated 40 shots using an iPad. District officials said the award-winning work would advance to national competition.
The district also recognized high-achieving students from Agua Fria, Canyon View, Desert Edge and Millennium high schools.
