West Valley Wind Ensemble is a ‘small concert band’ with 45 players. Started over 30 years ago, the band has a musical mission to keep alive the traditions of The Great American Concert Bands that have been delighting audiences in town squares, churches, and concert venues for over 150 years. The repertoire includes works written for band by American master composers as well as transcriptions of respected orchestral repertoire, beloved works from Broadway, and popular songs.
Our concert season runs from very late October to April 1. We prepare 4 programs per season. The program for our October concert will feature such patriotic tunes as “Star Spangled Salute”, “Armed Forces Medley”, “Salute to American Jazz” and “America the Beautiful”.
WVWE is a self-funded 503c, relying on audience donations at public performances and a donation from the host institution for private performances. Upon request from the venue, WVWE is happy to deliver audience donations of non-perishable food to the Valley View Community Food Bank.Members of WVWE include professional and amateur musicians, retired music teachers/professors, and active amateur musicians. Our ‘home’ is in Sun City West but we are happy to travel throughout the West Valley to perform.
