Mariah’s Miracle, a Valley-based nonprofit that provides pediatric medical equipment and therapy services not covered by insurance, will host its annual Dash For Dreams 5K and Mile Fun Run on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Goodyear Recreation Campus, 420 S Estrella Parkway.
Nearly 10% of children in the U.S. are diagnosed with a developmental disability, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Mariah’s Miracle's mission is to help alleviate the financial strain on families by providing the medical equipment and therapy services children need.
More than 300 participants are expected for the event, which aims to raise funds and resources for children in need of essential medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, speech therapy devices, orthotics, and cranial helmets. These items are vital for the physical development of children with developmental disabilities but are often denied or delayed by insurance companies, leaving families to cover the costs themselves.
The event will feature a 5K run, a mile fun run, and a virtual race option with registration opening at 3 p.m. and the races starting at 4 p.m. Activities for kids include glow-in-the-dark face painting, interactive games, and a chance to explore a fire truck.
Food trucks will be on-site, and a complimentary hot cocoa bar will be available for participants.
Registration fees range from $30 to $55.
