Maricopa libraries offer limited-edition ‘America 250’ cards

Posted

The Maricopa County Library District will release a limited-edition library card this summer to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

Starting in July, patrons visiting any district branch can obtain the specialized "America 250" library card, which features a patriotic design combined with localized Arizona visual elements. Accompanying commemorative bookmarks and stickers will also be distributed while supplies last.

The promotional materials are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Library officials noted that production quantities are limited and the items will not be restocked once individual branch supplies are exhausted.

Existing district cardholders are permitted to exchange their current library cards for the new commemorative design at no additional cost. The fee waiver for card replacements remains active through Dec. 31, 2026.

Administrators advised patrons that swapping an existing card will generate a completely new account number, requiring users to update login credentials for connected digital library applications, catalog holds, and online resource portals.

The Maricopa County Library District operates 14 branch locations across the metropolitan footprint, providing free library cards to all county residents, business operators, and property owners.
