The Goodyear Police Department, in partnership with the Goodyear Fire Department and Alice Cooper’s School of Rock, will host a community event called “Rock the Block” from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, at the Goodyear Recreation Center, 420 S. Estrella Parkway.
The event is being held in place of last year’s canceled National Night Out and is designed to bring residents together with local first responders in a family-friendly setting.
Activities will include high school band and choir performances, musical acts from the Rock Teen Center, public safety displays, jump houses, face painting and food trucks.
National Night Out is part of a nationwide campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and raises awareness about crime prevention and public safety. Communities across the country typically host events that encourage positive interaction between residents and law enforcement.
“This event is really to bring the community together,” Public Information Sgt. Sean Tyler said in a previous statement about National Night Out. “We’re introducing people to the officers who work in their areas and the equipment they work with. It’s a great opportunity to interact with the community we serve.”
