This Veterans Day, the city of Goodyear is launching a new initiative aimed at honoring the sacrifices of local veterans and fallen service members. The "Banners of the Brave" Light Pole Banner Program will publicly recognize military heroes by featuring their names and photos on banners displayed throughout the city.
Organized as part of Goodyear’s annual Veterans Day Tribute, the program invites residents to nominate a veteran or service member to be honored with a personalized banner. Nominations are open through Tuesday, September 30.
To be eligible, nominees must ve a veteran who was honorably discharged, or aservice member who died in the line of duty.
Additionally, honorees must have a strong connection to Goodyear, either by residency or through a close family member currently living in the city.
Applicants must provide:
The nominee’s official military photo in uniform
Service details, including branch, rank, service dates, and any special awards or commendations
Verification of military status (e.g., DD214) may be requested
Each nomination will go through a vetting process conducted by a selection committee. Approved applicants will be notified by the City, and banners will be created and installed in time for the city’s Veterans Day events.
