Goodyear families prepare for annual Polar Plunge

Families are gearing up for a frosty morning at the Goodyear Aquatics Center, where the city will host its annual Polar Plunge.

The free event invites residents to dip, slide or float through ice-cold water before warming up in the center’s heated competition pool on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Participants must register in advance and complete required waivers. Each person who takes the plunge will receive a commemorative towel, while those who brave the chilly pool, water slides or lazy river will earn an additional prize.

The family-friendly event runs from 8 to 9:30 a.m., with two plunge times available at 8:10 a.m. and 9 a.m. Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early or stay afterward to enjoy activities including crafts, a scavenger hunt, a photo booth and raffles. Complimentary hot cocoa and holiday giveaways will be offered, and the Goodyear Fire Department will provide breakfast.

The Goodyear Aquatics Center is located at 420 S. Estrella Parkway. More information and registration are available at recreation.goodyearaz.gov.
