Estrella Foothills student earns 'Artist of the Year' scholarship

Posted

Estrella Foothills High School held its annual Senior Awards Ceremony, honoring the Class of 2025 for their achievements. Among the evening’s standout moments was the presentation of the “Artists of Estrella” Artist of the Year Scholarship to senior Andrea Hasso.

The $500 scholarship, awarded through a competitive application process, required a statement of intent, an essay, a high school transcript, and two letters of recommendation from teachers or administrators.

The scholarship money will go toward Hasso's plans to attend Arizona State University’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising to pursue a four-year degree in fashion design.

Hasso was also recognized for receiving the Arizona State University Provost Scholarship and earning the Fine and Performing Arts Seal in Theatre. She is an Honor Thespian, a Scholar Thespian, and a SkillsUSA CTSO medalist and state participant graduating with distinction.

Lynette Keating, a member of the Estrella Art Gallery Committee that coordinates the community's resident club art gallery, presented the award, which included a scholarship check and gifts.

This year’s scholarship fund was supported by several contributors, including the Estrella Cigar and Whiskey Club.

“The best of luck is wished to Andrea Hasso as she pursues an education and eventual career in Fashion Design, with fondest regards from all the Artists of Estrella,” Keating said.

Estrella Foothills senior art students in the Class of 2026 are encouraged to apply for the scholarship next winter by contacting Counselor Kathy Fox at the school’s Guidance Department.
