Maricopa County officials have started a pavement rehabilitation project on several major roadways in the Goodyear area, with work expected to continue through May.
The Maricopa County Department of Transportation will conduct improvements along portions of Perryville Road, Lower Buckeye Road, Citrus Road and Yuma Road. Crews will mill and replace existing asphalt to extend the lifespan of the roadways and provide a smoother driving surface.
Construction is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with limited weekend work possible. During that time, traffic will be reduced to one lane in active work zones, with flagging operations in place to guide drivers.
Motorists should expect delays and are advised to allow extra travel time, reduce speed and follow posted traffic control signs. Officials also urged drivers to remain alert for construction crews working near roadways.
In addition to resurfacing, the project includes applying a new epoxy overlay on the Perryville Road bridge at the Buckeye Canal crossing, as well as roadway striping and finishing work.
The project is part of a broader county effort to maintain infrastructure and improve driving conditions. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of May.
