New Life Center names new CEO

New Life Center has named Kate Thoene as its Chief Executive Officer, formalizing her leadership after she served as interim CEO and previously as the organization’s Chief Strategy Officer.

Thoene brings more than 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with a background in community-based programs and organizational strategy. Her past roles include executive leadership positions at Waste Not, UMOM New Day Centers, and St. Mary’s Food Bank.

“I believe in New Life Center’s mission and the critical role it plays in our community,” Thoene said in a statement. “As CEO, my focus will be on strengthening internal systems, expanding access to services, and growing our revenue-generating social enterprise, Hope’s Closet, which not only supports our programs financially but also provides resources for the families we serve.”

New Life Center, based in the West Valley, operates one of the largest shelters for domestic violence survivors in Arizona. The organization offers emergency housing and a range of support services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Programs are designed to help individuals and families regain stability and rebuild their lives.

Under Thoene’s leadership, a representative from the organization stated that it plans to maintain its emphasis on survivor-centered programming and long-term strategic development.

New Life Center also operates Hope’s Closet, a social enterprise thrift store that supports shelter programs financially while providing clothing and household essentials to clients in need.
