The Rock Goodyear, the latest location of Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers, will celebrate its official grand opening Saturday, April 26, after quietly opening its doors to teens in mid-February.
The free event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Goodyear Municipal Complex and will feature live music and dance performances, a fashion show, food trucks and facility tours.
Located at 14455 W. Van Buren Ave., Building C, Suite 101, The Rock Goodyear is the third teen center opened by the nonprofit, following locations in Phoenix and Mesa. The center is open from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and offers free programming in music, dance and visual arts for youth ages 12 to 20.
Teens can take classes in dance, songwriting, visual arts and studio recording. Group lessons are offered in drums, bass, piano and guitar, and students are encouraged to explore multiple instruments and disciplines. Home recording equipment is also available. In addition to the creative arts, the center provides opportunities to learn behind-the-scenes skills such as lighting, sound and stage tech.
Solid Rock is a faith-based nonprofit founded on the belief that “inside every teen, there is a purpose.” Its mission is to make an everlasting difference in the lives of teens by meeting their spiritual, economic, physical and social needs in a safe, engaging environment during non-school hours.
