Posted

Benevilla invites older adults, caregivers, families, and community members to Aging Well: Live Empowered, a free community event from 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Oct. 8, at Radiant Church, 10701 W. Boswell Blvd.

Part of the program includes a presentation on understanding Parkinson’s disease. Holly A. Shill, M.D., director of the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center and Movement Disorder Program at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix will present “Where Are We in the Understanding of Parkinson’s Disease?” from 10 to 11 a.m.

During the presentation, Shill will discuss risk factors associated with the development and progression of movement disorders and Parkinson’s disease, early symptoms that are often overlooked, new medications and emerging therapies and exercise and lifestyle strategies that support brain health and function.

Designed to help individuals plan confidently for today and tomorrow, Aging Well: Live Empowered will bring together more than 40 trusted aging-well organizations and resources in one convenient location. Attendees can connect directly with local experts, learn about programs and services available throughout the community and gather practical information to support healthy, independent, and engaged aging.

Attendees who pre-register and attend the event will also receive an entry into a drawing for a chance to win a $50 Fry’s Gift Card.

Call 623-584-4999.
