Members of the Sun City Host Lions Club showed up early at Sun City’s Liberty Bell Sept. 11 to honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
The group rang the bell first when the north tower of the World Trade Center was struck at 5:45 a.m., then at 6:03 a.m. when the south tower was struck and again at 6:43 a.m. when flight 77 struck the Pentagon. They rang the bell for the last time at 7 a.m. when flight 93 crashed southeast of Pittsburgh.
The Sun City Host Lions Club hopes to continue this project and honor those lost on 9/11 in years ahead by ringing the community’s Liberty Bell.
