TIP program’s success will depend on donations, volunteers

Sun City CAN president thanks board, SC Fire and Medical Department’s Henson for support

OPINION — Beginning Nov. 1, 2026, Sun City Community Assistance Network — Sun City CAN — will launch a pilot program called Treatment In Place, known as TIP, to help qualifying low‑income residents who receive non‑transport EMS visits — often falls where no hospital transport is needed but a fire department response is required.

Under TIP, Sun City CAN will pay the balance of charges billed by the Sun City Fire Department for these non‑transport calls, easing the financial burden on vulnerable residents while supporting the fire department’s ability to continue serving the community.

My sincere thanks to Kyle Henson of the Sun City Fire and Medical Department for his support and to the Sun City CAN board for initially self‑funding this pilot.
