On International Coffee Day Thursday, Oct. 2, coffee lovers around the world will celebrate a beverage that has become part of their daily routines. Each day, more than 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed globally, whether for the caffeine, the taste or the routine.
Karthick Srimanoharan, owner of Thrifty Cafe, 10535 N. 107th Ave., enjoys the hot beverage for the taste. However, that wasn’t always the case. At his previous job, he wasn’t able to start working until he had two cups of black coffee with sugar.
“It’s always been a good, affordable part of the day to get their day moving and everything,” he said. “I know everything’s getting expensive now, but I think it’s a good source of energy.”
