Deb Dahlin, a member of the Palo Verde Artists, was recently recognized as the club’s September artist of the month. Dahlin, who has been teaching art for 26 years, uses very bright vivid colors to capture the beauty of light falling across an object.
The object could be a mountain, a rock, a flower petal or a child’s face.
“I am blessed with some ability and the time to practice and improve myself,” she said. “I always strive to improve.”
Her technique of underpainting on her chosen art media before applying the pastel allows her to combine her two interests. Lately, she has been focused on acrylic southwest subjects and teaches pastel, acrylic and alcohol ink classes.
