Surprise agrees to 911 emergency backup deal with Peoria

The cities of Surprise and Peoria will have each other’s backs when it comes to emergencies.

The Surprise City Council on Oct. 2 approved an agreement to authorizing the city to participate as a secondary responding agency for emergency call routing with Peoria in case backup support is needed for any reason.

A new state mandate requires Public Safety Answering Points, or PSAPs, to maintain backup agreements for 911 services.
