Forelli powers Peoria program she grew up in to No. 1

Liberty senior outside hitter Lauren Forelli, the team's leading attacker for three straight seasons, stands next to the trophy case at the Peoria school. She's hoping to lead the Lions to some volleyball hardware, which is rare in that display, this fall.

Lauren Forelli grew up going to Liberty volleyball and baseball games, and with Carl DeFriez as her youth club volleyball coach.

So her final two seasons as the dominant attacker on a Liberty team that is a 6A state title contender coached by DeFriez have been special.

Barring an injury, this will be the third straight year the outside hitter leads the Lions in kills and kills per set. It also might be the year she leads the No. 1 ranked Lions to their first state volleyball title.
