A local automotive service hub has finalized a $15 million expansion project aimed at drastically reducing turnaround times and tackling a severe shortage of regional maintenance appointments for West Valley drivers.
The 18-month construction project added 56,000 square feet to the existing Avondale Toyota facility, increasing the total number of operational service bays from 36 to 70. The project establishes the location as one of the largest automotive service footprints in the western United States.
The infrastructure upgrade is designed to address local consumer backlog by expanding daily capacity from 210 vehicle appointments to 410 per day. To handle the increased volume, the facility is expanding its technical and support workforce by approximately 35 percent, adding specialty mechanics, parts coordinators, and service advisors.
“Our team prides itself in listening to customer feedback, and we believe that this additional space in the service center will benefit our community for years to come,” said Alex Cosenza, General Manager. Cosenza noted the expansion targets both greater appointment availability and a faster overall customer experience.
The updated facility features segments for maintenance and main shop spaces for vehicle overhauls with heavy-duty lifts and tools tailored specifically for hybrid and electric vehicle maintenance.
“With this expansion, we now have the space, equipment, and support staff to keep our technicians focused on what they do best, working on vehicles, while improving turnaround times and increasing the number of customers we can serve each day,” said Shop Foreman Scott Johnson.
The facility has launched active local recruitment efforts to fill the remaining technical and support roles created by the expansion.
