Phoenix restaurant group to open two new restaurants in the West Valley

Posted

Two new restaurant concepts, Magdaleña and Paquimex, are set to open in the West Valley this spring, expanding dining options in Goodyear and Glendale.

The projects come from TPQ Foods, the Phoenix-based group behind Pa’La Wood-Fired Kitchen and Tortas Paquimé. The company, led by owner Omar Alvarez, has grown from a single restaurant in 2002 to multiple locations across the region.

“We’re always looking to grow in new ways by honoring the people and community that have built this with us,” said  Alvarez. “Magdaleña and Paquimex are a reflection of that dedication. We’re excited to continue this journey together, bringing our love for great food and community to the West Valley.”

Magdaleña, a wood-fired Latin American restaurant, is scheduled to open in late May in Goodyear’s GSQ District. The concept will focus on live-fire cooking, with Executive Chef Jason Alford leading the kitchen and a beverage program curated by Gilles Kolakowski featuring wines and spirits from Latin America.

The restaurant will be part of a developing area that includes civic, residential and commercial spaces.

Paquimex, planned for Glendale, is a fast-casual concept that builds on Tortas Paquimé. It will feature a streamlined menu, expanded service model and the addition of cocktails, while maintaining the traditional Mexican flavors that inspired the original restaurant.

The openings mark the company’s continued expansion into the West Valley.
