Fast-casual restaurant chain Slim Chickens has opened its newest location in Goodyear at 14765 W. McDowell Road. The restaurant began serving customers June 16 and marks the brand’s continued expansion in Arizona.
The Goodyear location is owned and operated by franchisee Lucas Barnett, a second-generation restaurant operator who began his career working in his family’s Burger King franchises. After earning a degree in finance and working in aerospace and defense mergers and acquisitions, Barnett shifted his focus to restaurant franchising.
“It’s about building great teams, delivering consistent quality, and creating experiences guests can count on,” said Barnett.
The Goodyear opening is part of Barnett’s broader plans to expand the brand’s regional footprint. “Slim Chickens is a young, exciting brand with a ton of growth potential,” he said. “I believe that it will fit well in the competitive landscape, with unique offerings and tons of options.”
The restaurant is expected to create more than 100 new jobs in the area, according to company representatives.
Founded in 2003 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Slim Chickens specializes in chicken tenders and wings that are marinated in buttermilk, hand-breaded, and cooked to order. The menu also features sandwiches, salads, wraps, and chicken and waffles, along with rotating dessert options served in Mason jars. Diners can choose from 14 housemade dipping sauces.
“Our freshly made southern dishes and homemade recipes create loyal guests who feel good about the food they’re eating and we’re proud to be able to grow our loyal fan base into the Goodyear market,” said Slim Chickens Chief Operating Officer Sam Rothschild.
Slim Chickens currently operates more than 300 restaurants across 34 U.S. states, with some international locations. The Goodyear store is the fourth Slim Chickens location to open in Arizona.
