The Phoenix Center for the Arts, in partnership with the Goodyear Arts & Culture Team, has announced that applications are now open for the fourth cohort of the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Arts program.
The initiative is designed to support emerging artists with a focus on arts education, mentorship, and community engagement. The BIPOC Arts program provides a six-month curriculum that includes weekly sessions on teaching artistry, mentorship from professional artists, and hands-on learning opportunities. Upon completion, participants will be placed in paid positions to apply their skills in teaching environments.
The program is open to all artists and encourages applications from individuals passionate about teaching and community involvement.
Applications are being accepted through Friday, Dec. 27.
“I am thrilled to bring the BIPOC Arts program to Goodyear for its fourth cohort. This program is about creating opportunities for artists to thrive and contribute to their communities in meaningful ways. We are committed to offering a space where creativity, diversity, and the pursuit of excellence come together, and we invite all artists to join us in this journey,” said Sandra Bassett, founding director of the BIPOC Arts Program.
The program seeks 40 participants, with at least 65% of selected individuals identifying as BIPOC or from underrepresented backgrounds.
"The Goodyear Arts & Culture Team is proud to partner with the Phoenix Center for the Arts to bring the BIPOC Arts program to our city. Supporting local artists and fostering an inclusive, vibrant arts scene is a top priority for our commission. This program provides invaluable opportunities for professional development and community engagement, and we are excited to see the impact it will have in Goodyear,” said Guylene Ozlanski, Goodyear' arts and culture coordinator.
