PebbleCreek prepares for the general election

Posted

In the PebbleCreek community in Goodyear, local political activism is becoming increasingly prominent as residents prepare for the upcoming November elections. The luxury retirement community is known for its country club amenities and social opportunities, as well as its engagement in the city’s governmental landscape.

Residents are participating in two key political clubs: the PebbleCreek Republican Club and the PebbleCreek Democratic Club. These organizations provide platforms for residents to discuss, educate, and mobilize around their political beliefs while connecting with their elected officials.

As the general election draws near, the PebbleCreek community alongside the rest of the country is preparing to cast ballots.

“Everyone needs to get out and to make their voices heard,” said PebbleCreek resident Vicki Barber.

The PebbleCreek Republican Club aims to organize members around Republican ideals, encouraging involvement in the political process through discussions and events. Their mission emphasizes the importance of active participation.

The PebbleCreek Democratic Club focuses on educating members about Democratic issues while promoting community engagement through social and service activities. Their outreach efforts include partnerships with local organizations and opportunities for members to participate in political campaigns and community service.

The clubs host regular meetings and special events in the community. The PebbleCreek Democratic Club held an event on Wednesday Oct. 3 hosting U.S. Representative Ruben Gallego as he continues his run for a seat in the U.S. Senate.

The club met over coffee, fresh fruit and baked goods as Gallego discussed his views on immigration, prescription drug costs, Medicare access, and protecting seniors from fraud and scams.

“It’s going to be tight, but the election will be determined in neighborhoods like this with volunteers and supporters like this,” said Gallego.

As November approaches, PebbleCreek voters will have the chance to influence local governance through elections for state representatives and senators, school board members, a U.S. senator and representative, a corporation commissioner and county officials seeking the titles of supervisor, assessor, attorney, recorder, sheriff and school superintendent. Residents will also vote on local ballot measures that may impact funding for public services and community initiatives.

“It’s a long ballot,” said Gallego. “Talk to your neighbors, encourage them to fill out their ballots now. Every vote counts.”

The PrbbleCreek clubs highlight the importance of local political activism, encouraging residents to express their opinions and engage in shaping the community's future. With over 100 clubs available in PebbleCreek, residents are often connecting with others and increasing their involvement in civic matters.
