Yates Mitsubishi officially marked its expansion into the West Valley this week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, kicking off a series of grand opening events that include community festivities and a fundraiser for local nonprofits.
The new dealership, located at 13725 W. Test Drive, held its formal opening Wednesday morning. Dealer Whitney Yates-Woods was joined by representatives from the Mitsubishi corporation and elected officials from the cities of Goodyear and Litchfield Park to formally open the facility.
Goodyear Vice Mayor Brannon Hampton, who attended the ceremony alongside other city council members, noted the dealership's long-standing connection to the region.
“I know they've been a great business partner in the community for years, even when I was in high school,” Hampton said. “I appreciate them having a place for employees that really helps the economy, as well as small businesses, which are the foundation for the community.”
The celebration will continue Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a public event. The scheduled programming includes food vendors, children’s entertainment, face painting, and prize drawings for items such as gas cards and Amazon gift cards. Organizers also expect live media participation and a Spanish-language radio presence on-site.
During the public celebration on May 9 and 10, the dealership will hold a “Test Drive for a Cause” initiative. For every test drive conducted over the two-day period, Yates Mitsubishi will donate $20 to the West Valley Mavericks Foundation.
The foundation, which was co-founded by members of the Yates family and other local business leaders, provides grants to a variety of regional organizations. Beneficiaries include A New Leaf, the Agua Fria Food & Clothing Bank, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Homeless Youth Connection, and the Fighter Country Foundation, among others.
“When we have new partners added, we love to have that because it gives us more opportunity for more charity and philanthropy,” said Tyler Yates, a founding member of the West Valley Mavericks.
