Mission BBQ, a national restaurant chain known for its patriotic theme and support for military and first responders, will open a new location in Goodyear, city officials announced.
Founded in 2011, on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Mission BBQ describes its mission as honoring those who serve in the armed forces, law enforcement and emergency services. The company currently has Arizona locations in Paradise Valley and Surprise.
The Goodyear Economic Development team shared news of the restaurant’s expansion to the city, noting it as part of Goodyear’s growing dining landscape.
Mission BBQ was founded by two friends who say they were inspired by a shared passion for barbecue and a desire to run a business centered on purpose. The restaurant’s dining rooms are decorated with memorabilia and tributes to veterans and first responders, many of which have been donated by service members and their families.
According to the company’s statement, Mission BBQ aims to serve “authentic BBQ made from the freshest ingredients,” and hosts a daily lunchtime salute to the American flag at each of its locations.
An opening date for the Goodyear restaurant has not yet been announced.
