Summer break is drawing to a close for thousands of West Valley students as local elementary and high school districts prepare to welcome youth back to the classroom over the coming weeks.
The staggered return kicks off in late July, led by the Litchfield Elementary School District, which resumes classes for all students on Thursday, July 30.
The majority of local districts will follow on Monday, Aug. 3. All students in the Avondale Elementary and Liberty Elementary school districts are scheduled to start that morning.
At Agua Fria High School District, freshmen will report for their first day on Monday, Aug. 3, with all remaining grade levels returning Tuesday, Aug. 4. Buckeye Union High School District will have all students return on Wednesday, Aug. 5, on a scheduled late-start calendar.
Local police and municipal officials urge motorists to prepare for increased morning traffic, drop-off delays, and active school zone speed limits across the West Valley as the regional closures and summer breaks officially conclude.
