The P.W. Litchfield Heritage Center will launch its summer youth programming this month with a specialized "Discovery Day" event series designed to educate local families on water resource management in arid environments.
The program, titled “Water in the Desert,” will feature two upcoming sessions at the regional museum facility located at 13912 W. Camelback Road:
Saturday, June 6: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday, June 10: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The family-focused curriculum addresses where the Arizona desert sources its water supply and details the waterways supporting West Valley infrastructure. The workshops will include engineering activities where children can construct their own functional paddle-wheel boats and experiment directly with interactive groundwater models.
Museum officials state the initiative serves as an entry point for generational learning.
The Discovery Day events are open to families of all ages.
