The P.W. Litchfield Heritage Center is celebrating Día de los Muertos with family-friendly activities, inviting the community to explore Mexican heritage on Wednesday, Oct. 23, ahead of the holiday on Nov. 2.
Located at 13912 W. Camelback Rd., the heritage center aims to connect generations by fostering an understanding and appreciation of the history, arts, and culture of the Southwest Valley. The center hosts enrichment activities regularly, including one early-release Wednesday each month and events on the first Saturday of each month.
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a significant Mexican holiday that honors deceased loved ones. Celebrated with altars, food, and community gatherings, it emphasizes remembrance and cultural identity.
The P.W. Litchfield Heritage Center's mission is to serve as the historical and cultural heart of the Southwest Valley, promoting respect for all cultures and fostering lifelong learning.
The upcoming activities aim to engage families in the rich traditions surrounding Día de los Muertos, providing an opportunity for both fun and education.
