The Maricopa County Library District will kick off its annual Winter Reading Program for adults inviting community members to slow down, savor a good book, and earn rewards along the way.
Adults can sign up for an email reminder by visiting winter.mcldaz.org and entering their email address. On Dec. 15, participants can create an official account and begin tracking their reading. Each minute of reading including audiobooks counts as one point, with a program goal of 500 points by Feb. 15.
Participants can pick up a special bookmark at their local library to track progress. Those who log at least 60 points per week will be entered into weekly drawings for prizes including a “Rise & Read” sunrise-simulation alarm clock, a book light, a library swag bag or a Maricopa County Parks day pass. Readers who reach 500 points by the program’s end will receive four tickets to a Valley Suns basketball game.
The Litchfield Park Library at 101 W. Wigwam Blvd. and the Georgia T. Lord Library at 1900 N. Civic Square in Goodyear are among the branches participating in the program.
