Groundbreaking held for Rio Mirage Café’s new Estrella location

Posted

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday for Rio Mirage Café’s newest location in the Estrella community of Goodyear.

The event took place at 10047 Estrella Parkway as residents and city officials gathered to mark the start of construction.

Rio Mirage Café specializes in Sonoran-style recipes they say have been passed down for generations. The new Estrella location will be the restaurant’s third in the West Valley. The café opened in 1999 and currently operates in Surprise and El Mirage.

NAI Horizon facilitated the sale of 4.72 acres of retail land at the southeast corner of Estrella Parkway and Elliot Road, the main entry intersection to the community. The buyers, Rachel and Alex Gomez of Estrella Mountain Lago LLC, are the owners of Rio Mirage Café.

“We are excited, we are ready, it could not be a better fit,” stated the Gomez family in a press release. “This is exactly the type of community we want to be part of, and we are excited to have our restaurant there.”

The seller, Rob Schramm, president of Kitchell Development, said the community is likely to embrace the new restaurant.

“The community residents are in for a real treat, as the Gomez’ are exceptional restaurant operators, so the atmosphere and food quality they create will generate strong community patronage,” Schramm stated.

The Estrella location will feature views of North Lake, the Estrella Mountains and the Starpointe Residents Club.

Rio Mirage Café’s Estrella restaurant was initially anticipated to open in September 2024.
