The Goodyear Arts & Culture Commission will host artist and baker Fanny Hicks on Tuesday evening for its latest "After Hours Art Talk" at City Hall at GSQ.
The lecture, titled “Butter, But Make It Art,” will run from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the municipal complex located at 1900 N. Civic Square. The 90-minute community event is free and open to the public.
Hicks will explore her unconventional creative path, detail how her formal art background in painting and illustration unexpectedly converged with years of cake decorating and baking, and discuss the unique challenges of sculpting a giant edible cow out of butter.
The lecture will focus on how creative skills migrate across different mediums and challenge the traditional distinctions between fine art and craft.
The event is designed to invite local audiences to reconsider traditional notions of where art belongs, emphasizing how curiosity and adaptability can lead to surprising creative outcomes.
