The City of Goodyear is inviting West Valley artists to apply for “Suspended Art: Goodyear Light Pole Banners,” a public art project that will showcase original designs on city-owned light poles.
Selected artwork will be printed on 30.5-inch-by-72-inch double-sided vinyl banners and displayed along roadways from April through June each year, beginning in spring 2027.
The call is open to West Valley artists working in a range of visual media, including painting, photography, collage, mosaic and quilting. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. March 1, 2026, and must include narrative responses, a resume and three to five JPG images of past work. Specific proposals are not requested at this stage.
A selection panel will evaluate submissions based on artistic excellence, site responsiveness and community engagement. Four finalists will receive $500 to develop three design concepts and engage with residents. The Goodyear Arts & Culture Commission will select one final design from each artist. Finalists will receive an additional $500 upon submission of print-ready artwork.
Banners are scheduled for installation in spring 2027.
