Goodyear residents study European migration

Posted

The Georgia T. Lord Library will host a free workshop, “European Migration to America: Why Did They Come?” 1-2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18  in the Community Room.

The event, organized by the Maricopa County Library District, will be run by Denise Beeson, who will discuss the historical push and pull factors that influenced ancestors from various European countries to migrate to America.

Denise Beeson has over 25 years of experience teaching at Santa Rosa Junior College. Beeson developed the Genealogy Program for the Older Adult Program and teaches genealogy classes. She is a member of the Sonoma County Genealogical Society and the Pebble Creek Genealogy Club and has presented at various genealogy events and civic groups.

Genealogy, the study of family history and the tracing of lineages, is integral to understanding these migrations. It involves researching and documenting familial relationships using historical records, oral histories, and genetic testing.

This workshop aims to provide attendees with insights into their ancestry and the historical context of migration. The event is open to the public and welcomes anyone interested in genealogy and migration history.
