Goodyear residents learn about public art

Posted

Multidisciplinary artist Kristine Kollasch will lead an interactive presentation on "Public Art & The Art of Placemaking" at Goodyear City Hall at GSQ on Tuesday, July 28.

The event will run from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 1900 N. Civic Square in Goodyear.

The presentation explores the concept of placemaking, how public art and architectural design transform public spaces into vibrant cultural hubs. Drawing from regional installations as well as her own portfolio, Kollasch will discuss the visual and social impact of integrating art into everyday environments. Attendees will also have the opportunity to examine mosaic panels up close, learn how materials are crafted to withstand harsh desert climates, and participate in a Q&A session.

Kollasch brings over 40 years of commercial design, public art and community advocacy experience to the West Valley. In addition to her studio practice, Kollasch has served as the lead curator at First Studio Gallery in downtown Phoenix since 2012, curating over 65 exhibitions featuring regional artists.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Visit goodyearaz.gov for more information.
