Goodyear releases water report after recent contaminate warning

Posted

Goodyear has released its 2025 Water Quality Report showing full regulatory compliance last year, a data release that arrives weeks after the city warned residents about a recent chemical contaminant violation.

The annual report summarizes data from 2025, showing no unsafe levels of germs or chemicals and full compliance with federal and state standards. However, a public notice issued May 21 alerted residents that the water system has since exceeded the safety standard for total trihalomethanes, a disinfectant byproduct, averaging slightly above the federal limit of 0.080 milligrams per liter at two locations.

Officials emphasized the situation is not an emergency, requires no corrective action for most customers, and does not require boiling water. Vulnerable populations, including infants and pregnant individuals, were advised to consult healthcare providers.

The city is currently executing a flushing and adjustment plan to bring the system back into compliance by the next reporting period. The full 2025 report is available on the city's website, and residents with questions can contact the Goodyear Water Department.
