The Goodyear Fire Department is offering a babysitting safety course for youth ages 12 and older, with registration now open.
The one-day course runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 26, June 9 and June 16. The program includes a two-year CPR certification and training in emergency response, basic first aid and child care preparation.
Participants will learn skills such as handling emergencies, responding to choking incidents and assembling a babysitting kit. The course fee is $25, payable by cash or check, and attendees are asked to bring a sack lunch.
Officials said the course is designed to help prepare young people for the responsibilities associated with caring for children.
