Abrazo West Campus updated its labor and delivery department and is hosting an open house to showcase the improvements for the community.
The open house will be held 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the hospital, 13677 W. McDowell Road.
The updated department features new technology designed to improve birthing experiences.
The department is introducing a heated, portable birth spa that has gained popularity among midwives and expectant parents. Additionally, wireless fetal monitoring technology is now available, enabling continuous monitoring of maternal and fetal heart rates, contractions, and uterine activity without traditional cords.
Dr. Jordan Oland, a physician at Estrella Women's Health Center, said that this system allows for greater freedom of movement during labor.
The Abrazo West Campus staff also will highlight their new CuddleCot, which provides bereaved families additional time to say goodbye to stillborn children, allowing them to create memories and make arrangements without feeling rushed.
