Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear has received the American Heart Association’s 2025 Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus award for meeting stroke care standards based on national treatment guidelines.

The award recognizes hospitals that follow protocols aimed at improving recovery and reducing complications among stroke patients. The recognition is part of the American Heart Association’s nationwide quality improvement program for in-hospital stroke treatment.

“Abrazo West is committed to improving patient care,” said Hans Driessnack, CEO of Abrazo West Campus. “By adhering to the latest treatment guidelines, we are putting proven knowledge to work daily, which studies show can help patients recover faster. The end goal is to ensure more people in the West Valley have access to advanced health care and experience longer, healthier lives.”

Abrazo West also received additional distinctions, including the Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite and Advanced Therapy awards, which recognize hospitals that meet specific benchmarks in delivering clot-dissolving or clot-removal treatments within recommended timeframes. The facility was also named to the Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll for applying stroke care guidelines to patients with diabetes.

“We are incredibly pleased to recognize Abrazo West Campus for its commitment to caring for patients with stroke,” said Dr. Steven Messe, volunteer chair of the American Heart Association Stroke System of Care Advisory Group.

Three other Abrazo hospitals in the Phoenix area also received recognition for stroke care performance.
