Goodyear hospital expands rehabilitation technology

Posted

Abrazo West Campus has introduced new rehabilitation technologies at its inpatient facility aimed at improving recovery outcomes for patients with stroke, neurological injuries, orthopedic conditions and other complex medical needs.

Hospital officials said the added equipment is designed to support mobility, strength and cognitive function through a combination of functional electrical stimulation and interactive therapy systems.

The technologies include a hand rehabilitation system, which uses electrical stimulation to assist with daily tasks, an overhead system that provides body-weight support and fall protection during walking therapy and an interactive platform focused on cognitive, visual and motor skills.

Chief Operating Officer Rob Stantus said the investment is intended to expand therapy options and support more individualized rehabilitation programs.

“Investing in innovative rehabilitation technology allows us to offer patients more personalized, intensive therapy that can help them regain independence faster,” said Stantus.

The new equipment is part of a broader expansion by Abrazo Health, which in January opened the Litchfield Medical Building in Goodyear. The 46,000-square-foot facility includes a 24-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital and outpatient medical offices.

Hospital officials said the center is expected to begin seeing patients in April and is designed to help ease the transition from acute care to rehabilitation for patients recovering.
