Goodyear earns Healthy Worksite Award

Posted

The city of Goodyear has received the Platinum Healthy Arizona Worksite Award from the Arizona Department of Health Services for the seventh consecutive year, recognizing its efforts to promote employee health, wellness and equity.

The Platinum Level Award honors businesses that address health challenges in their communities through data-driven programs, cross-sector collaborations and policies that integrate wellness into workplace culture.

“Wellbeing is of utmost importance to me, and we are proud to be recognized for prioritizing the health and wellbeing of our employees and their families so they can take care of the Goodyear community,” said City Manager Wynette Reed.

The recognition highlights Goodyear’s work in leadership support, wellness training, worksite health improvement planning, budgeting for wellness initiatives and using measurable outcomes to guide decisions.

The Healthy Arizona Worksite Program  was launched in 2013 by ADHS as part of the Arizona State Health Improvement Plan. Funded through Proposition 300 Tobacco Tax revenues, the program provides employers with free training, technical assistance, and resources to design and evaluate evidence-based wellness initiatives.

Initially managed by the Maricopa County Department of Public Health, the program returned to ADHS oversight in 2022 under the Bureau of Chronic Disease and Health Promotion.

Goodyear officials said the city will continue to build on its wellness programs to support both employees and the broader community.
