Fill-A-Need program rallies community support

Posted

The city of Goodyear is once again working to brighten the holidays for local families experiencing financial or medical hardships through its long-running Fill-A-Need program.

Established in 2005, the program supports an average of 35 Goodyear families each year. Families selected for assistance receive gifts for children, including toys, clothing and school supplies,  as well as toiletries, nonperishable food items and other essential household goods.

The Fill-A-Need program is administered by city employees and supported through partnerships with local businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations and residents. Each fall, the city receives referrals of families in need from schools, neighbors, public safety personnel and other community partners.

With applications now closed, the city is turning its focus to preparing gifts and supplies for participating families and the community is invited to help. Residents, businesses and civic organizations can contribute by donating wrapping paper, supplies or monetary contributions used to purchase gifts.

Donations may be dropped off at the Goodyear City Hall lobby, 1900 N. Civic Square. Visit goodyearaz.gov for more information about the Fill-A-Need program.
