EMCC offers non-credit courses this fall

Posted

Estrella Mountain Community College is rolling out non-credit classes this fall, offering West Valley residents short-term opportunities to build skills, explore interests, and prepare for the workforce.

The courses are part of EMCC’s Community Education program, which includes personal enrichment, English language instruction, workforce training, and youth classes.

Upcoming classes include:

  • Public Speaking Workshops on Sept. 9–10, Oct. 7–8, and Nov. 4–5. The $15 two-day sessions focus on elevator and persuasive speaking and are held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Estrella Hall.
  • Financial Literacy, a four-part course beginning Sept. 2, will cover budgeting, credit, savings strategies, and mortgage rates. The class meets twice weekly and costs $25.
  • Mixxedfit, a dance-based fitness program that combines movement and bodyweight exercises, runs Tuesdays from Aug. 26 through Oct. 14. The $65 class meets in the Student Union’s exercise room and includes a mandatory waiver for participants.

Additional programming includes English for Speakers of Other Languages, job-focused workforce training, and the Kids and Teen College series, which provides enrichment courses for children ages 5 to 16.

“Supporting our students goes beyond offering certificates and degrees,” said Dr. Steven R. Gonzales, chancellor of Maricopa Community Colleges. “We’re committed to aligning education with workforce needs, making higher education affordable, accessible, and purposeful for our community.”

More information and class registration details are available on campus at3000 N Dysart Road  in Avondale or at estrellamountain.edu.
