Abrazo West invests $50M to expand services

Posted

Abrazo West Campus announced it has spent nearly $50 million over the past three years to expand access to advanced medical care in the West Valley, including technology upgrades and new specialty services.

The hospital was the first in the region to offer mechanical thrombectomy, a minimally invasive procedure used to treat large-vessel occlusion strokes. Physicians say rapid access to this type of care can significantly affect recovery outcomes.

In one recent case, Goodyear resident Allen Williamson, 76, was treated for a stroke at Abrazo West. He said he was told that timely treatment likely prevented more serious complications.

Additional investments include new imaging systems, a dual-source CT scanner, a high-tech surgical robot, and operating rooms equipped for cardiovascular, brain and spine procedures. A new inpatient rehabilitation facility is scheduled to open in January 2026.

Hospital officials say the upgrades are intended to keep more high-acuity care within the West Valley, reducing the need for patients to travel to Phoenix or other metro areas.

“Our commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to our neighbors shows in our work. Later this year, we’ll begin a multi-million-dollar expansion of our intensive care unit that will increase our ability to meet the West Valley community’s continued need for high-level care,” stated Rob Stantus, chief operating officer of Abrazo West Campus.
