92-year-old Goodyear man suspected in death of wife, 89

An 89-year-old woman was found dead in her home last week, and her husband has been identified as the suspect, Goodyear police said Saturday.

John Robinson Biggs Jr., 92, has been arrested in connection with the death of Jane Theresa Biggs whose body was found with “signs of trauma” inside their home in the 15000 block of West Amelia Drive, police said.

The suspect’s son found his father’s wife dead in a bed after he traveled from out of state to check on John Biggs’ health following receiving “concerning phone calls,” according to a Goodyear Police Department release.

Police officers responded just before 1:30 p.m. Aug. 24, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The suspect was arrested and taken to a hospital for medical clearance. He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail in connection with the homicide.
