West-MEC receives grant to expand career training programs

Posted

The Western Maricopa Education Center has received a grant from The Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation to support its “Pathways to Success: Expanding CTE Opportunities, Capacity and Career Literacy” initiative.

The funding will help expand West-MEC’s Welding Technology program to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals and provide students with enhanced career literacy opportunities.

The Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation is a statewide leader in philanthropy, supporting organizations in human services, health, education, arts and culture, and spirituality. The foundation funds nonprofits that aim to empower individuals to lead productive and fulfilling lives.

West-MEC, a not-for-profit public school district, is dedicated to offering students a comprehensive education that prepares them for careers. The grant will support the expansion of the Welding Technology program, helping students earn industry-recognized credentials and gain valuable career experience.

The Southwest Campus, 500 N. Verrado Way, in Buckeye, is among the campuses offering the Welding Technology program.

West-MEC is a public school district specializing in Career and Technical Education. The district provides hands-on training, college credit opportunities, and industry-recognized credentials. West-MEC serves more than 45,000 students from 49 high schools across the northern and western Phoenix metropolitan area. The district also offers adult education programs.
